SCOPE OF ROLE

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading multiple engineering teams or a larger engineering team across one or more platforms. You will provide technical oversight, people leadership, and strategic planning to ensure engineering teams deliver high-impact solutions aligned with departmental, platform, and company objectives.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and work closely with Product, data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders across GFG. You will coordinate cross-team projects and initiatives, ensure effective resource utilization, and help teams prioritize and execute work that delivers measurable business value.

You will bring senior-level technical expertise and strong business acumen, helping teams connect technical strategy with the business model and objectives of the platforms they support. You will influence departmental strategies and roadmaps, identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and developer productivity, and lead initiatives that strengthen software delivery across teams.

You will also play a key role in developing mid-level managers, senior engineers, and high-potential team members through coaching, mentoring, actionable feedback, and structured development opportunities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead multiple engineering teams or a larger team of approximately 10-15 engineers across one or more platforms, providing people leadership, technical oversight, and strategic direction
  • Align team efforts with departmental, platform, and company objectives, ensuring effective prioritization, resource utilization, and execution
  • Coordinate cross-team projects, initiatives, dependencies, and delivery plans to ensure timely delivery of technical solutions that address business needs
  • Influence departmental strategies, technical roadmaps, and platform direction by connecting engineering priorities with broader business objectives
  • Develop and implement technical strategies for software projects, ensuring they support platform goals, business value, reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability
  • Identify and drive initiatives that improve engineering processes, developer productivity, software delivery effectiveness, and operational excellence across teams
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance to engineering teams while empowering them to make sound technical decisions and execute effectively
  • Develop mid-level managers, senior engineers, and high-potential team members through coaching, mentoring, actionable feedback, and structured growth plans
  • Identify and organize development opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, mentoring programs, and knowledge-sharing forums
  • Help teams define, align, and deliver ambitious OKRs that support departmental and company objectives
  • Hire, onboard, retain, and grow strong engineering talent, contributing to final hiring decisions and ensuring new hires are integrated effectively
  • Build and promote a diverse, inclusive, collaborative, accountable, and high-performing engineering culture
  • Advocate and advance modern Agile and engineering practices, including Lean Engineering, Scrum, clean coding, clean architecture, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Facilitate collaboration with engineers, product managers, designers, data teams, and business stakeholders to solve complex problems across Global Fashion Group
  • Hold yourself, your managers, and your teams accountable to high engineering standards, delivery quality, and continuous improvement

WHAT IT TAKES

  • 3-6 years of management experience, preferably leading multiple teams or a larger engineering team of approximately 10-15 engineers across one or more platforms
  • Senior engineer-level technical capability, with credible hands-on understanding of full-stack web development, distributed systems, client-server architectures, and software design patterns
  • Experience building web applications, PWAs, and APIs using modern technologies and cloud platforms.
  • A solid foundation in computer science, including strong competency in data structures, algorithms, software design, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Proven ability to develop and implement technical strategies that align engineering execution with platform goals, organizational priorities, and business objectives
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand how technology teams deliver business value and how the supported platform contributes to the broader business model
  • Experience managing cross-team priorities, dependencies, delivery planning, resource allocation, and execution across multiple initiatives
  • Ability to influence departmental strategies, technical roadmaps, engineering practices, and process improvements across teams
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers, senior engineers, high-potential talent, and emerging managers through clear feedback and growth plans
  • Experience setting, aligning, and delivering ambitious OKRs across teams in support of departmental and company objectives
  • Strong ability to hire, onboard, retain, and grow software engineering talent while building happy, high-performing teams
  • Ability to manage team dynamics, foster collaboration, and tailor development plans to the career aspirations of team members
  • Humility, a strong sense of purpose, a strong value system, and a high level of ownership and accountability for engineering standards, delivery quality, and people development
